2ND MID-TERM REVIEW IN THE NETHERLANDS: TARGET USERS TOOK PART IN THE MEETING
The European Commission reviews the ALFRED-project once every year with the goal to check on the project progress and to suggest improvement when necessary. In November 2015, the ALFRED midterm review was organized in Utrecht by the Netherlands Elderly Foundation (end-user partner) in “Transwijk” that is a local activity centre arranging accommodation and proposing a diverse range of services for senior citizens.
The gathering of ALFRED consortium members with the project reviewers in this activity centre was a great occasion to present the ALFRED system directly to its target users and enable the reviewers to see these users interacting with the prototypes of the ALFRED apps.
Four voluntary seniors demonstrated two different components of the ALFRED solution: they wore the smart ALFRED t-shirts connected to a vitality monitoring app (developed by AITEX) and played on smartphone a serious game called “Dancicians” (developed by TUDA). After the demonstrations, the reviewers asked questions from the seniors about their experience with the tested apps, and their general feedback was very positive.
Moreover, thanks to this gathering of varied European partners, the ALFRED project raised the interest of local media: a TV-station interviewed the senior participants about their experience with the ALFRED system and a newspaper published an article about ALFRED.
